Allegations of sexual harassment against wrestlers; WFI chief Brij Bhushan is defended by Divya Kakran

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Saran Singh, has been accused of sexual harassment. Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medalist Divya Kakran defended Mr. Bhushan on January 18, claiming that she has not personally experienced or seen any instances of Mr. Bhushan engaging in such behavior during her ten years of attending camps run by the governing body.

On Wednesday, Vinesh Phogat made claims that instructors who are favorites of the WFI harass and mistreat women. In addition, after losing at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she claimed that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the head of the wrestling federation, had called her a "khota sikka" and had engaged in sexual harassment of girls.

"Numerous accusations have been leveled at WFI president Brij Bhushan Saran Singh since the morning. Nobody is challenging those making these unfounded accusations. The accusers look for new claims to make against Sharan when the older ones don't work. I've been going to camp ever since I was 14 years old in 2013, and I still do. He has never done anything wrong with me or any other lady up until this point. They provide good assistance for wrestlers from Haryana and the U.P., and he ensures that they are not subjected to discrimination "in a video he made himself, the wrestler stated.

"I find it incomprehensible that the protesters claimed just two months ago on social media that wrestling had changed after Brij Bhushan Singh became the WFI's leader. These are the people who express gratitude to him for the honors bestowed upon them and for sparing them from discrimination or shortages. They added that national competitions now take place throughout a range of age groups rather than starting at 19 as they did in the past. There are Khelo India competitions and rating series. These are taking place thanks to sponsorship money. Children get better at their games at lower levels. Brij Bhushan is using his position of authority to promote the sport "Kakran came to an end.

Phogat had stated on the sidelines of a sit-in demonstration against the WFI outside Jantar Mantar in Delhi, "Women are being harassed by coaches, and some Federation-favored coaches even mistreat female coaches. They harass girls sexually. Many girls have been sexually harassed by the WFI president."
